- ****** PLEASE CONTACT JANET APPLETON REGARDING QUESTIONS,CONTACT INFORMATION IS WITHIN THE BODY OF THIS NOTICE********** NASA/MSFC has a requirement for ONE (1) Hurco VM2 Computer Numeric Controlled Vertical Maching Center. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items on a sole source basis from Hurco, the manufacture, through their regional distributor Applied Machine Solutions. Applied Machine Solutions is the only distributor identified by Hurco to sell this equipment in this geographic location. The Hurco VM2 operating Hurco Max(tm) software and hardware tooling will also integrate seamlessly into MSFC's existing Hurco VM1 vertical milling machine. The Marshall Facility location specified for the installation requires a small footprint. Market research has determined that Hurco's VM2 is the only vertical machining center that will fit within the specified floor plan. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 8/2/2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
