Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District will host a workshop for prospective bidders regarding an upcoming Request for Proposal (RFP) to construct a concrete seepage barrier at Wolf Creek Dam, located near Jamestown, Kentucky. The RFP w ill be issued on or about 16 October 2007. The primary feature of work is installation of a concrete seepage barrier having a minimum 2-foot thickness extending from elevation 750 to elevation 475 over a length of approximately 4,200 feet. The barrier wi ll be installed through the existing earth embankment and underlying limestone foundation. Portions of the limestone foundation exhibits rock hardness in excess of 20,000 psi. The workshop will be held on 15-16 August 2007, at the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery Visitor Center at 50 Kendall Road, Jamestown, Kentucky 42629.? (The Visitor Center is located on the right descending bank, just downstream of Wolf Creek Dam, on the r ight of Power House Road, just before coming through the main gate.) The workshop will consist of the following: 1. Beginning at 0900 CDT on 15 August 2007, the Corps will present an overview of the project including history, technical information, and seepage barrier requirements. The Corps will also discuss plans to procure construction of the seepage barrier thr ough multiple-award, two-phase contracts using best value procedures and competitive trials. Following the presentation, there will be an open forum to allow questions and comments from prospective bidders. 2. Beginning at 0900 CDT on 16 August 2007, prospective bidders will be afforded the opportunity for individual discussions with Corps team members. During these discussions, the Corps seeks input from bidders regarding technical approach, constructabili ty, and alternative contracting strategies. These discussions will be held in confidence.
