Description
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Albuquerque Acquisition Office, Albuquerque, NM solicits bids for a Firm Fixed Price construction contract for new construction of the Pueblo Pintado Community School (PPCS) located on an 80 acre site adjacent to Navajo Route 9 approximately 60 miles west of Cuba, New Mexico. Site is at an elevation of 6540 feet. Construction of the K-8 school for 387 students includes a 71,010 square foot replacement school with two classrooms per grade, a large gym and dining facility, a media center that separates the two wings of upper-grade and lower-grade classrooms. Specialized classrooms include Fine Arts, Navajo Language, Computer Lab, Gifted Child, Special Education classrooms, Science Lab, Home Economics and a Wood Shop. The administration area has a Health Unit with a reception area, eight offices and a conference room. The building structure is comprised of load bearing exterior masonry walls supported on concrete spread footings & steel interior structural columns. Interior partitions are steel stud and drywall assemblies. Construction also includes steel bar joists, metal decking, rigid insulation, single ply membrane, high slope standing seam metal roof panels cover the gym. Ground source heat pumps will provide heating and air conditioning for the building. The facility will be protected by a fire sprinkler system. A 150,000 elevated tank will provide water storage for domestic and fire suppression. Self contained, zero discharge, subsurface artificial wetlands will treat waste water. Construction contractor shall furnish all plant, labor, supplies, materials, services, equipment, transportation and incidentals necessary to perform all work required to complete as specified in the specification, drawings and any addenda. Bid shall include the base and 2 alternates. One alternate is a 21,220 square foot dormitory for 96 students, housing boys and girls in two wings separated by a central activity area. Wings have two suites each (younger and older students). Each suite has its own living room, study room and laundry. Facility designed to meet requirements for a LEED Silver Certificate rating. Ie, ground source heat supply, daylighting via light shelves and solar tubes, use of sustainable and renewable materials, highly reflective roofing and paving materials and xeriscape landscape design. The General Contractor must provide a successful BIA Security Investigation report to the Contracting Officer before any construction shall begin. Duration of construction is four hundred eighty (480) calendar days after receipt in writing of the authorized notice to proceed. Construction cost is above $10 million. Availability of construction documents on disks shall be August 6, 2007 with a limit of three per General Contractor. Prebid conference is scheduled at the existing school on August 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., local time.
