THIS IS ONLY AN ADVANCED NOTICE. THE SOLICITATION WILL BE POSTED AFTER AUGUST 15, 2007 FOR THE WORK DESCRIBED IN THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO RESPONSE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. This will be a small business set-aside. NAICS Code: 512110 Size Standard: $25.0M 1-1 Purpose: The National Park Service is seeking a ten-minute orientation video for Katmai National Park on safe human behaviors around bears in the backcountry. The video will be distributed on DVD to all 160+ commercial operators who transport visitors to the park, a remote area accessible only by air or boat. Commercial operators interact with nearly all backcountry park visitors by providing transportation access. The park is cooperating with the commercial use operators to provide them with the orientation video, which will be shown to visitors before they enter onto parklands. Dissemination of this video will provide a consistent, NPS-approved orientation for backcountry visitors, addressing correct human behavior around bears. 1-2 Background: Katmai National Park and Preserve contains more than 4.7 million acres of backcountry. This remote Alaskan park supports one of the largest protected populations of brown bears in the world, and interaction between backcountry visitor groups and bears are of concern both for visitor safety and bear protection. Few park visitors interact with NPS rangers in the backcountry, making bear orientation for backcountry visitors of the highest importance. 2-1 Orientation: Independently, and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall provide the National Park Service with all labor, materials, services and facilities necessary to research and write a script, provide appropriate images, direct location shoots and gather images and sound recordings for a ten minute orientation video on proper backcountry behavior around bears. The Contractor will work with staff from Katmai National Park in all phases of this production to achieve these goals. The work shall be accomplished as follows: Production: Research, Script, Location shooting & recording, Post-production: editing, mixing, delivery of edit master. ALL VENDORS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS SOLICITATION MUST BE REGISTERED IN THE CENTRAL CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION (CCR) DATABASE PRIOR TO AN AWARD BEING MADE.
