Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate Rome NY intends to solicit and negotiate a sole source purchase order under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 with MI Technologies, Inc., 1125 Satellite Blvd., STE 100 Suwanee, GA 30024-4629 for the purchase of the following item: ITEM 1: Microwave Receiver Upgrade QTY: 1 P/N: MI-1797B-11 DESCRIPTION: Consisting of MU-1797B-11 High Performance Receiver 0.1-20 GHz; MI-3393 LO Extender; MI-1797-IL-025 (MI-1797 IF TO LO/IF Cable, 25 ft); MI-3390 Local to Remote Control Cable 60 FT; Engineering Support and Material Installation and Operator Familiarization Operator and Manuals. Though this notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, information received by the response date of this solicitation will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The NAICS code is 334290. Sole Source Justification: MI Technologies is the only source that can provide a direct replacement that is both physically and electrically compatible with our current measurement system. Extensive software has been written which interfaces the AFRL measurement to the existing MI receiver. If anything other than a new MI receiver is purchased, AFRL will have to develop a whole new array of interface software and possibly be required to purchase additional interface hardware. This would be a lengthy and expensive undertaking which could severely impact the schedule of ongoing test efforts. In particular, this system is currently being utilized to perform measurements for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program, which directly supports homeland defense. MI Technologies is the only company capable of producing the microwave receiver which directly supports AFRL/IFGE?s existing antenna data acquisition system.
