Description
NASA/GRC has a requirement for 20 High Frequency Pressure sensors/transducers to support upcoming testing for the Orion Program. Description of Requirement: - The pressure sensors are identical replacements to existing sensors that are presenting used in components and fixtures owned and used by NASA GRC. The physical characteristics of the sensor must conform to the mounting hole preparation specification shown in the attached figure. The performance characteristics of the pressure sensor must conform to the following specifications: 1. Measurement range: 100 kpsi 2. Sensitivity: +/- 0.07 mV/psi 3. Max. Pressure: >= 125 kpsi 4. Resolution: 2.0 psi 5. Resonant Frequency: > 400 kHz 6. Rise Time: <= 1.0 usec 7. Non-linearity: <= 2.0 % FS NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from PCB Piezotronics, Inc. This recommendation is made pursuant to FAR 13.106, for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source. Competition is impractical for the following reasons: The hardware described is a identical replacement component to existing equipment and fixtures. Purchase of this equipment from a different vendor would result in unacceptable hardware incompatibilities due to the design and specifications of the existing system. Therefore it would be the best interest of the government to purchase directly from PCB Piezotronics, Inc. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 08/14/2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
