- NASA/JSC has a requirement for a NASA/JSC has a requirement for Robot compatible 6-Axis force moment sensors. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from JR3, Inc. JR3 is the sole manufacturer of 67M25A3-I40 and 160M50A3-I100 force moment sensors, which are currently used with existing hardware and software in the Dexterous Robotics Lab (DRL). The hardware that is presently used within the DRL is integral to the development of further robotic systems, such as the Robonaut 2 project. The force moment sensors'technologies are patented and JR3 has exclusive rights. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on August 27, 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
