Contract Point of Contact is Randy Montalbano at 503-808-4614. A brief description of work is as follows: Scope of Work: Remove overgrown vegetation along the Long Tom River, Fern Ridge Lake Project, Oregon. The Long Tom starts on the North tip of the Fern Ridge Project. Contractor Operations: Conduct brush removal operations along the Long Tom River at selected locations identified below. The Contractor shall denub all material growing on designated levee slopes from the levee crest travel way to the waters edge at streambed, inclusive of gravel bars and islands on the channel bottom, in such a manner that will minimize debris discharged into the water while distributing it along the levee embankment surface. The objective is to establish optimum material size processing criteria initially and sustain that level throughout the period of performance. Generally, processed material will not exceed 2 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter. Brush and trees shall be cut to within 12 inches of the channel bottom and/or levee embankment surface. The Contractor provided equipment provided shall be independently mobile on a tracked or wheeled undercarriage with a hydraulically powered, articulated boom, dipper and cutter head designed and operated specifically to cut and grind up woody brush, willow , and trees growing within the improved river channel. Equipment will have an original manufacture date of 1980 or later. The equipment provided shall have the ability to operate on rough and steep terrain with minimal disturbance to soils and reveted slop es. The equipment shall have the ability to traverse slopes of 1V/1.5H to access benches, gravel bars and all vegetation along the levee toe that may reach out over the water within the channel, and/or have sufficient reach to accomplish the work from the levee crest. The equipment provided may require special modifications to achieve traction, stability and/or reach necessary to accomplish the work. Equipment proposed for use will be subject to inspection, and evidence of its performance and efficiency will be required prior to contract award. The approved equipment will be operated in a manner which mulches, breaks and cuts trees from the top down to prevent the uprooting or felling of whole trees or large branches in the water where they cannot be subsequently processed.
