- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY (SOURCES SOUGHT) AND NOT A SOLICITATION. The U.S. Air Force Academy, located in Colorado Springs Colorado, is seeking information from Certified 8(a), Small Business ONLY AT THIS TIME, interested in and capable of performing a long term Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping contract of this magnitude to the quality standards found at such a location. The Air Force Academy has exceptional grounds, athletic fields, cemetery and other facilities that require a level of service that in some cases rank high when compared to those normally found at other locations. Proposals are currently not requested. A Solicitation is anticipated in the spring of 2007 for a target 1 Sep 07 contract start. Contract duration will be base plus 4 option years, Sep 2007 thru Aug 2012. Requirement includes grounds maintenance to include landscaping, snow and ice removal, maintenance and repair of trails etc. Testing and adjustments to soil amendments, supply/ transportation and replacement of sod/trees/shrubs/bushes, fertilizing, weed control, aeration, drill seeding, rock bed maintenance, storage of supplies and materials, irrigation systems operation and maintenance, hand watering, related repair work, litter patrol, composting, record keeping and monitoring, site security, pruning, power raking and de-thatching, pre-storm treatment, airfield maintenance (related to mowing, snow removal, and vacuuming), landscaping, wood chipping, herbicide application, and similar related requirements. Other requirements include care of the cemetery and funeral support to include the preparation of gravesites for full body funerals or cremations and related services. Services will include excavations and set up of vaults, coffins, lowering devices, false floors, seating arrangements, execution of burials, placement of headstones/vases, floral arrangements, exhumation of gravesites and necessary record keeping in accordance with local policy etc. This includes approximately 6 winter grave excavations. Removal of trash, debris and animal droppings throughout the year. Supply and storage of vaults etc. Removal of snow and minor maintenance of artificial turf to include large areas such as football, baseball, soccer fields. Maintenance of obstacle courses. Marking of athletic fields to include the same etc. to precise regulation standards. Out-of-cycle maintenance required in support of special functions. Support special functions and events such as soccer tournaments, softball tournaments, sports camps, change of commands, spring/fall cleanup, graduation, parents weekend, CORONA conference, and other like high level interest critical events. Some of the estimated quantities are as follows: Mow Improved Grounds 400 Acers, Mow Un-improved or Semi-improved/ Grounds 2000 Acers, Un-improved Grounds 70 Acers, Liner Feet of Side Walk, Driveways, Curbs and Ditches 400,000, Number of Trees 3,500, Number of Shrubs 10,000, Number of Rock or Shrub Beds for Maintenance 450, replace sod 160,000 square feet... Request interested businesses provide information which validates capability to perform contract requirements of this magnitude, volume and level of quality. Specifically, information shall include but is not limited to: (1) ability to service large bases or commercial clients with similar requirements, (2) points of contact for current or past customers with contract requirements of similar size and scope, (3) experience, training, personnel, equipment and resources available to provide these services (4) explanation of how a geographically separated business (outside the local area) would meet requirements in Colorado Springs.
