- The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Mississippi Laboratories, located in Pascagoula, MS, intends to modify Purchase Order WC133F-05-SE-6585 for the rental of seven (7) double wide office trailers by adding two additional 12 month option periods which will extend the period of performance through October 16, 2011 with Resun Leasing Inc., Dulles VA based on the following reasons 1) The NMFS Mississippi Laboratories were demolished when hurricane Katrinia struck Pascagoula, MS in August of 2005. NMFS acquired these trailers through competitive bid and has been utilizing these double wide office trailers Laboratory and Office space while a new building is being constructed; 2) The existing Purchase Order was awarded from a competitive bid, but only allowed for occupation through October 16, 2007 and now the extension of the existing rental agreement is essential while a new building is being constructed; 3) NMFS has made a significant investment in the remodeling and preparation of these double wide office trailers so that it could be utilized as laboratory and office space. The current facility has been outfitted with all the necessary laboratory equipment and supplies and the NMFS Mississippi Laboratories have been able to resume their mission. The cost to vacate these trailers, move them off the property, procure a new facilities, move them onto the property, outfit it, and hookup all the utilities would be far more costly to the Government than extending the lease through the addition of option periods; 4) The extension of the current lease would also eliminate the disruption of employees and the programs they are working; 5) This extension of this lease on the seven double wide office trailers is critical to NMFS Mississippi Laboratories operations in Pascagoula, MS. 6) Extension is to be funded by FY2008 funds. The Government plans to negotiate with Resun Leasing Inc. for the continued rental of seven (7) double wide office trailers currently in its possession and onsite in Pascagoula, MS.
