- NASA/MSFC intends to award a SOLE SOURCE Contract, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, to The Boeing Company, 6633 Canoga Ave, Canoga Park, CA 91309, for the continuation of environmental remediation at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL), Ventura County, CA. The facility occupies approximately 2,850 acres of hilly terrain, with approximately 700 feet of topographic relief near the crest of the Simi Hills. The facility is divided into 4 administrative areas of which all of Area II (approximately 410 acres) and a 42-acre portion of Area I are owned by the federal government, administered by NASA. The site is regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Corrective Action Program and a Consent Order between the California Department of Toxics Substances Control (DTSC), the Department of Energy (DOE), Boeing, and NASA. Remediation at SSFL is currently under the oversight of the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). The overall corrective action objective at SSFL is to follow the RCRA Corrective Action process to implement corrective measures that are protective of human health and the environment. See Note 22.
