- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to provide clarification concerning the panels and their intended use. The panels will to be used in a structural application. The design of the structures should be to both maximize bending rigidity (stiffness) and maximize strength (resistance to crushing). The panels will be subjected to structural loads, including shear loads derived from panel bending. There is no requirement (or need) to resist heat. The structures do not need to be air tight (or sealed); however the structure shall contain 2 solid face sheets (joined by a core) but shall be open to air laterally. The panels must be constructed with face sheets that are one piece 30 inches x 30 inches minimum. The final structure cannot be a collection of smaller panels welded together, laterally, to reach the 30 inch x 30 inch minimum. Also, the panels shall be s imilar from one end to another and no end support shall be part of the structures. Thus, there shall be no lip or need for crimping at the end of the panels. The periodic core structure is an open cell structure that can be created from slender beams (trusses) of any cross sectional shape in any configuration to maximize the combination of strength and bending rigidity. As a result of this amendment the closing date for receipt of proposals is changed to 7 September 2007 by 1100 hours.
