- The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Pittsburgh Research Laboratory, Safety Research Coal Mine (SRCM) has a requirement for a diesel mine scoop, LT-4836 or comparable. The mine scoop is needed for use within the underground environment by SRCM miners in order to safely carry out mining operations, maintenance operations, and material handling in confined areas of the Safety Research Coal Mine and the Experimental Mine. Minimum Specifications for Diesel Mine Scoop. The following minimum specification are for a diesel mine scoop, LT-4836, or comparable. Must include a 48 hp 2011 Deutz MSHA approved diesel engine, 36-inches high hood, 54-inches wide MSHA approved braking system with wet disc brakes. Foam filled 7:00x15-12 ply tires, hydraulic PTO-15 gpm ? 2500 psi, with auxiliary PTO for ejector bucket, etc., quick attach ? x 20, backup alarm, protect-o-seal fuel cap and the operator?s compartment include voltage gauge, keyless ignition, fire suppression status, parking brake warning light, horn switch, circuit breaker, PTO switch, fuel level, oil pressure, brake pressure and tachometer. Lo Trac 4836?s automatic fire suppression system includes two manual actuators, automatic detection status and engine shutdown to meet CFR 30.75-1911. The third tank is a portable fire extinguisher. The Model 4836 has fuses and battery disconnect that meet MSHA CFR 30.1910. The machine has left handed steering and right handed joystick for the arm?s lift and tilt functions. A two-toe treadle controls forward/reverse and speeds. This machine is intended for underground development mining duties in the Safety Research Coal Mine, Pittsburgh Research Lab, NIOSH.
