Description
The U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC), Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. intends to solicit, negotiate and award a sole source contract to Esterline Defense Group, Coachella, CA under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 (a) (2) (ii), Supplies deemed available only from the original source in the case of a follow-on contract. This action will be a for a redesign of the current 120mm Mortar Increment Container in order to increase safety to the soldier by decreasing the possibility of a short round or cook-off in the mortar tube. The Mortar Increment Containers shall be constructed from either felted fiber or foamed celluloid material depending on availability of technology. The effort will consist of a design phase with up to 1,250 prototype units as well as a production phase to deliver 2,000 test units. Numbered notes 22 and 26 apply to this effort.
