Description

The FDA intends to award Sole Source procurement to L-3 COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION, Doing Business as (DBA): L-3 COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY & DETECTION SYSTEMS, INC.; 10E COMMERCE WAY, WOBURN, MA, 01801-1028. Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. An award will be made seven (7) calendar days from the date of this notice. JUSTIFICATION FOR SOLE SOURCE: L-3 COMMUNICATIONS is sole the manufacturer of the LINESCAN products. This Award is for a service and maintenance agreement to cover 12 machines in various site locations. L-3 COMMUNICATIONS does not warrant any corrective repairs or service issues by another company. NO REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of providing the required service as stated herein may submit a capability statement to document its ability to provide the required services, which will be considered if received by September 7, 2007. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This announcement does not bind the government to any particular acquisition approach. All responses or questions regarding this posting must be in writing and can be sent via email to HARRY.BRUBAKERIII@fda.hhs.gov. No phone calls will be accepted. This sole source procurement will be awarded as a simplified acquisition in accordance with FAR Part 13. All contractors doing business with the Federal Government must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. The website for registration is www.ccr.gov.
