- 00HCTBDC-2007-46794 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis (i.e. non-competative basis), a purchase order to Advanced Measurement Technology, Inc. (DBA AMETEK Inc. and / or ORTEC), 810 South Illinois Ave, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-0895. The authority for this sole source procurement is FAR 13.106-1. The requirement will be procured as a commercial item in accordance with FAR Part 12.6 in conjunction with FAR 13.5, as applicable.The purchase order is for one customized high purity germanium gama detector system, model number GEM-M7570P4-PLB-S and/or GEM-M7080P4-PLB. For equipment technical specifications see uploaded documentation or visit the AMETEK web site http://www.ortec-online.com This detector system is needed for ongoing CDC research work / studies directly related to response to terroristic activities, and requires acquisition from AMETEK to maintain continuity of effort, supplies, protocols, and most importantly, analytical results. It is further believed that AMETEK produces the only equipment of this type utilizing digital interface with compatable technologies to ensure precise measurement is not compromised for portability. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the customized detector system are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer on or before the posted response date of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining to conduct a competitive procurement.
