Description
The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) seeks to obtain market research information from sources capable of fully satisfying the specific agency requirements identified herein that may be procured in the near future. This market research is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as a commitment of any kind. Any information received, in whole or in part, may be used to create the resulting acquisition strategy for the proposed requirements. Responders will not be reimbursed for any information received and are encouraged not to provide proprietary data or business sensitive information as any information received may be used by the Government and/or released to the public. The Government is primarily focused on seeking suitable commercial and non-developmental items or commercial items that can be easily modified to meet existing Government requirements. If no such commercial/non-developmental items currently exist, the Government may enterta! in the procurement of developmental items based on the information received as a result of this market research. Information on capable sources are sought for the follow requirements: INDIRECT FIRE SITE FOR THE M203 GRENADE LAUNCHER 1. Requirement: a. Max Range: 400m b. Min Range: 40m c. Objective weight: less than 8 oz d. Max weight: 1.2 lbs. e. Must be able to work in temperatures from -50o f to 200o f f. Must work in altitudes from 200 ft below sea level to 28000 ft. g. Must be waterproof to 66 ft. h. Must be able to Zero sight to weapon system. i. Must not interfere with operation of M203 Grenade Launcher, M16 and M4 family of weapons, or other optics j. Mount to a picatinny rail system or standard M203 Upper Hand Guard on the M16 and M4 family of weapons such that it will not interfere with the AN/PEQ-2A or AN/PVQ-31A RCO and in such a way as to maintain the center of gravity of the weapons system. k. IR laser visible through AN/PVS-7b and AN/PVS-14 l. Power source: 1-2 AA batteries m. Must be ambidextrous. n. Visible readout with a dimming feature for night vision capabilities. o. Compatible with all current munitions types for M203 grenade launcher. p. Ability to be used while weapon is supported on the ground, hip or under shoulder positions. q. Ability to adjust user on to target using digital readout by giving correct angle of attack for specified distance from range finder. r. Must have sensors capable of sensing the angle of weapons system in relationship to the ground, distance to target and give user correct adjustment for angle of weapon to hit target using a display either optical or LED. s. Ability to be used without power source when necessary with a mechanical and/or optical aiming device integral to the device. t. Must be ruggedized to withstand harsh weather and extreme physical abuse. u. Must withstand a vertical drop of 10m on to concrete. v. Materials can be carbon fiber or light weight aluminum or similar durable material. w. Finish parkerized (flat black or green) or similar durable finish. 2. Concept of Design and Function: A site that will allow rapid acquisition of a target with the M203 Grenade Launcher giving the user the information needed to engage the target with minimal time and effort. Distance to target and angle of weapons system to engage target with the first shot kill ability while maintaining the center of gravity of the weapon’s system. Sources capable of fully satisfying the above requirements should submit capability statements/expressions of interest providing the Government the necessary information to determine actual capability. At a minimum, this information should include: 1) identification of your company or organization, 2) your company's or organization's assertion of existing, full capability to meet proposed requirements, 3) business/contracts/marketing office point(s) of contact information, 4) notification of business size and/or special status and 5) any additional information that may be useful to the successful procurement of the requirements, if solicited. These expressions of interest shall adhere to a two (2) pages submission limit, plus commercial marketing info or web links and all should be submitted via email to ira.patterson@usmc.mil referencing the following tracking #9002. These should be submitted on or before 26 September 2007. This market research announcement should not be co! nsidered a commitment of any kind by the Government and individual correspondence should not be expected in advance of any resulting pre-solicitation notice for the proposed requirements.
