Description
THE PURPOSE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO THE SPECIFICATION. THE CHANGES ARE: 1) Fiber outer jacket should be black. 2) Outside (finished)diameter should be changed to 2.2 mm +/- 0.2 mm from 2.3 mm +/- 0.2 mm. SECTION 3.1.5 SHOULD READ: The maximum diameter of the fiber shall be 2.4 mm. The minimum diameter of the cable shall be 2.0 mm. 3) The requirement has changed to 20,000 feet. As a result of the changes above, the closing date and time is extended to 26 SEPTEMBER 2007 at 2:00 PM. This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities(FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line(NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport, RI has a requirement for 10,000 feet of single mode, hermetically sealed, low loss fiber cable. The cable will be placed in a hose containing isoparaffinic oil ? with a fill pressure of less than 50 psi. The cable will be exposed to a storage temperature range of -40 degrees C (-40 degrees F) to 65 degrees C (149 degrees F) and to an operating temperature range in air between -10 degrees C (14 degrees F) and 65 degrees C (149 degrees F). A Naval Undersea Warfare drawing # 1000 will be attached to the solicitation upon release on 20 July 2007 using FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13. Delivery is FOB Destination Naval Station Newport, RI 02841. This requirement is unrestricted. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form.
