Description
NASA/LaRC has a requirement for high temperature, extra flexible power supply cables that will comply with specific test requirements. NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Cobra Wire and Cable. NASA requires a high voltage, extra flexible cable able to withstand high temperatures in order to meet test conditions. Flexibilty is critical because during testing, the interconnecting cable which is positioned in a U-formation must be able to vertically transition or move approximately 5 feet. Cobra Wire is the only known source for cables that meet the criteria stated. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 24 Sep 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B". Please note that the current Ombudsman is Cynthia C. Lee. Direct inquires to the Office of Procurement Deputy Director, NASA Langley Research Center, Mail Stop 134, Hampton, VA 23681-2199; phone (757)864-2426; facsimile (757)864-8541.
