- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey intends to award a sole source non-competitive procurement to Florida International University (FIU) for Lattice Boltzmann modeling of digital optical borehole wall images. This effort is a continuation of previous work that will be expanded to incorporate much larger scale data available from digital optical borehole images from the Biscayne Aquifer. FIU is uniquely qualified in the area of environmental/ground-water research in using numerical methods to quantify the hydraulic conductivity of recently available two-dimensional digital borehole images obtained in the Biscayne aquifer. The image results will be compared to results from existing and new computerized 3-D volumes generated from whole core samples to study scale effects. This announcement is for informational purposes only. No formal RFQ will be issued. The anticipated award date is 15 Oct 07 under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $100,000.00. The NAICS code is 541620. A determination not to continue with this acquisition based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition.
