- QUESTIONS IN REGARDS TO SOLICITATION VA-257-07-RP-0122 1. Spec Section 16640 describes the above referenced item. The section is clear as to what is required and where it is required. Section 16640-3.1 indicates to install where shown on drawings, after researching the drawings we can find no locations shown. A. Is this a requirement? Yes - K. Randall, BHB B. If so please indicate where. All underground steam piping shall have cathodic protection as required by the specification section noted. No additional locations are shown on plans. - K. Randall, BHB 2. Is the depth known for the new pre-insulated / buried steam & steam condensate shown on 1/D-6? New pre-insulated / buried steam and steam condensate piping will have minimum 3 feet of cover. The existing tunnel has approx 20 of cover. - L. Brown, BHB 3. Are there any LD's for this project? "Liquidated damages" No. 4. Will contractor be allowed to use the governments utilities? Yes, contractor will have access to utilizes to complete the project. 5. Are they any restricted areas that will need to be accessed for this project if so who will authorize that access? Yes. There are restricted areas in this project in the Energy Center and the Research Building. This access will be arranged by either Engineering and or the Research staff. 6. How much advance notice does the government need? More information is needed to answer this question. 7. Is there any after hours or weekend work to be performed? The project is scheduled to take place during regular week days and normal day hours. However, due to special circumstances due to connections, outages etc. after hours may be required. 8. Will contractor be able to set up equipment in work area? (ie: Pipe Machines or Welding Machines) The Research Building will limit the size and type of machinery on the work site due to the controlled environment in the Research Building. The other work areas will be more suitable for machinery on the work site. 9. Does the government have a preference on which building the contractor begins work? The work schedule will be set at the preconstruction period. The goal is to complete the job with minimal affects on the steam utility system. 10. Will contractor have a designated area too set up job trailer for securing equipment and material? A site for a job trailer and storage will be designated. 11. If contractor is prohibited from having trailer will the government provide storage area for contractor? A site for a job trailer and storage will be designated. 12. There is no designated parking for contractors. 15. Has Phase E been completed? Yes. 16. Are fan coils existing? If the question is referring to the fan coils in the cool storage areas in Building 44, yes the old fan coils to be replaced are in place.
