STATEMENT OF WORK PROTESTANT PIANIST Naval Air Station Fallon Chapel Position Summary The provision of music in religious services is essential to worship. The playing of a piano has long been recognized as an integral part of religious services. Services of the Protestant Pianist include the selection of music appropriate to the liturgical seasons in consultation with the chaplains who preside at the services. Qualifications 1. Evidence of a Master?s Degree in music or church music, or equivalent experience in playing for such services. An equivalent that would be acceptable in place of such a degree would be at least three (3) years experience in playing in Protestant worship services. 2. Ability to play the piano for a variety of church hymns and music as found in the Armed Services hymnal. Music must be ?sight-read? and played with little or no practice. 3. It is desirable that the contractor have previous experience in working with military chapels. 4. The government reserves the right to a pre-award survey to verify that the contractor or employee used by the contractor has the capability and technical excellence to perform the function outlined in this statement of work. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Piano accompaniment or worship rehearsal services, to include, but is not limited to, Preludes, Postludes and Offertories, congregational singing, choir and small group renditions for the protestant Chapel. 2. Piano accompaniment for funeral and/or memorial services as needed. 3. Piano accompaniment for all Sundays and other liturgical celebrations. 4. Piano accompaniment for special presentations and programs such as Christmas and Holy Week services. 5. Responsible for accompaniment for any special choral performances. 6. In the case of absence, Pianist will provide a substitute approved by the Protestant chaplain, at no further cost to the government. 7. Be present at least 15 minutes prior to all services for coordination with the chaplain. Evaluation 1. The contractor will be evaluated on the following components: a. Musical competence. b. Ongoing flexibility and the ability to work well with the Protestant chaplain and other chaplains and members of different faiths, ethnic and social backgrounds, and children of all ages. c. Success in providing quality music which supports the Protestant services and the people who attend worship. d. Professionalism, timeliness and thoroughness in accomplishing tasks and responsibilities. Criteria Educational background: - An Associate?s Degree in music or church music, or - Three years of comparable work in music Period of Performance The period of performance of this contract shall be from 14 October 2007 to 30 September 2008. Labor Contractor will be paid for the above period of performance, to be paid monthly in the amount of per month, upon electronic submission of invoices.
