Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Quantico, Virginia seeks sources of supply and information for both existing and on-the-horizon technologies for traditional internal battery power, as well as external expeditionary portable power that can minimize life-cycle costs and mission logistics impact, meet safety certification requirements, and have universal acceptance/Service compatibility (Joint Service). The intended application is for use with man-portable tactical expeditionary biological detection sensors, currently requiring between 5 watts and 40 watts continuous power and capable of unmanned operation between 12 and 72 hours. The technology must be lightweight, small, rugged, quiet, efficient, versatile, reliable, cost effective, and mature (initial availability by 2010). The technology can be in the form of a single traditional battery type power supply or take the form of a multipurpose device to include solar capability. In addition to the attributes list ed, responses are encouraged to describe additional value added features, if available. Responses will include a summary sheet providing the following information: 1) Energy Source Identification and Description (including energy density), 2) Output Voltage Range, 3) Max Continuous Current Rating, 4) Peak Current Rating, 5) Energy Storage Capacity, 6) Special Features and Safety Concerns, 7) Cycle Life or Total Life Time, and 8) Weight of Energy Source. Commercial firms possessing the characteristics noted are encouraged and invited to submit product literature/brochures with pricing materials. Responses should also describe performance limitations that are not met by an available solution and are encouraged to explain if the available level of performance may meet the Government?s needs, or if an alternative capability may meet the Government?s needs. Please provide the name, postal address, phone number, and email address of your Point of Contact (POC). Responses will be reviewed to identify firms potentially capable of fulfilling the Gover nment?s requirements. This sources-sought/Request for Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP), or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire follow-on acquisition. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If so included, clearly mark such restricted or proprietary data and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information.
