- Description
- NAICS Code: 511120 The Environmental Protection Agency plans to issue a sole source purchase order to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Division of Scholarly Journals., for the publication of five peer-reviewed journals. Due to the process of journal submission and acceptance to peer-reviewed journals, authors may only submit their article(s) to one journal. Once the journal was submitted to American Academy of Pediatrics and was accepted, it became the only possible firm to publish the article. The set of five articles was submitted to Pediatrics in June 2007, and accepted for publication on September 5, 2007. The journal, Pediatrics, was considered the best audience for the set of five articles by the co-authors for the following reasons: 1) Target Audience: Pediatricians and scientists working on children's environmental health were our target audience for articles on the subject of environmental factors and puberty timing. Pediatrics has 65,000 subscribers, mainly pediatricians and scientists working in pediatric medicine. Subscribers will receive a copy of the Supplement. 2) Practicality: Few journals publish groups of articles or Supplements, which was necessary for conveying the message (5 articles) from our workshop. 3) Scientific Recognition and Prestige: Pediatrics is one of the top journals in the field of pediatrics. It is important that EPA sponsored products are recognized in the medical and scientific community. And the Supplement provides further visibility since the set of five articles is published as one issue of the journal. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR A QUOTE (RFQ) AND NO SOLICATION IS AVAILABLE. Responses to this announcement and questions must be in writing and submitted to the Contracting Officer in writing. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted.
