- Description
- The Postal Service plans to issue a Fixed Price Contract to renovate the existing restroom that serves the approximately 263,222 square foot Processing and Distribution Center located in Building A of the Cincinnati, Ohio Processing & Distribution Center. All work will be done in accordance with USPS approved specifications and drawings. The work includes removing existing restrooms and related fixtures, piping, and equipment (including hazardous material abatement) and to provide required general trades, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing for new restrooms in Building A. General trades demolition work includes, but is not limited to, selective removal of existing finishes, chase walls, existing toilet partitions, doors, metal stud and masonry partitions, and asbestos abatement at existing and abandoned restrooms and janitor?s closets. New architectural work includes, but is not limited to, new finishes, ceilings, toilet partitions, toilet accessories, shelving, doors and frames, metal stud partitions, patching and infill of existing slabs and masonry partitions, wall protection, and replacement of existing exterior clear glazing with obscure glass glazing. Plumbing improvements include the removal of all existing plumbing fixtures and associated waste/vent/water supply piping, removal of existing water heating system, new plumbing fixtures, a complete replacement of all waste/vent/water supply piping systems serving new plumbing fixtures, and new water heaters. Storm piping, natural gas piping, water coolers (and associated supply/waste piping) are not included. The project also includes miscellaneous fire alarm, electric power, electric lighting, HVAC, and minimal rework of fire protection mains as required to accommodate the proposed toilet room renovations. An allowance of $60,000 is required in the base bid for on-site full-time asbestos abatement monitoring by a third party, including daily and clearance air sample analyses. This allowance is to cover work over and above other work required by the bid documents. Work will be performed during a 24/7 mail processing operation with no work to occur during peak mail handling times. The estimated cost of the project is between $1,350,000 and $1,450,000 with construction completion within 275 calendar days from receipt of notice to proceed. Contractors must submit a Qualification Statement with their price proposal. Only the most qualified contractors will be considered. To be considered the company must be financially capable, have a minimum of five years total experience in plumbing upgrades and replacement projects, and have completed two comparable projects within the past five years, one of which may be ongoing. Comparable projects are defined as plumbing upgrades/replacements at a cost of $1,000,000 or greater. The Qualification Statements will be evaluated in accordance with the criteria stated, in the following order of preference: experience, performance and capabilities. The price proposals for only the the most qualified contractors will be considered. The Postal Service will select the offeror that provides the best value to the Postal Service. A PRE PROPOSAL MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE SITE (AT THE BUILDING B TOWER LOBBY) ON TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2007, AT 10:00 A.M. ATTENDANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
