- Description
- Q. Are you looking at alternative solutions, for example, liquid cooled vests to replace the current MCS in the Paladin Howitzer M109A6? A. The Paladin system is not looking to incorporate liquid cooled vests into the system at this time. The primary function of the MCS (Microclimatic CONDITIONING System) is to provide NBC filtered air to the crew. It also has the functionality to provide cooled NBC filtered air. The purpose of this solicitation is to handle the reliability problems of our current MCS by upgrading some of the components on the MCS system (completing the conversion to R134a, etc). We acknowledge that liquid cooled vests are available, they do not completely solve our situation of providing NBC filtered air to the crew and thus are not an acceptable solution to this solicitation. Q. Can you please provide the location of the current MCS within the Paladin? A. The MCS unit is located within the MCS enclosure on the roof of the Paladin Cab.
