- Description
- NASA/DFRC has a requirement for 144 Pressure Transducers. [SPECIFICATIONS] The specifications are: Model Number LL-11-250-15A Pressure Calibration: All 144 pressure transducers are to be calibrated at 0, 7.5 and 15 psia at 0,250, and 500 degF. In addition to the calibration, 50 of the transducers are to have their temperature output calibrated at 32, 75, 125, 200, 300,400, and 500 degf. [SOLE SOURCE EXPLANATION] NASA/DFRC intends to purchase the items from Kulite Semiconductor Products Inc. This vendor is the only manufacturing company that has products that meets all requirements. Their product is the only one that can withstand the high temperatures that the project requires. Market research was conducted by the technical representative at NASA Dryden and was found that all other transducers could only withstand temperatures of about 250 degF. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on October 19, 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
