Description
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego (SSC-SD) issued a competitive award against DARPA broad agency announcement BAA05-42 to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company (LMSSC) on 15 June 2006 in support of the Control Based Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks Program in the amount of $8.663 million, inclusive of 1 one-year Option. SSC-SD intends to award a sole-source contract modification for new work, at an estimated value of $250,000, against contract N66001-06-C-2021 currently being performed by LMSSC, which expires 14 December 2007. The effort is to perform additional tests and experiments to include an airborne experiment to collect data and perform post-processing localization analysis to evaluate feasibility of an airborne deployment and a field systems test for the Marines at Camp Pendleton; enhance Phase 2b prototype system software to facilitate prototype system evaluation by military users by incorporating additional features to support the user evaluation; design and develop an operator console with a graphical user interface for system initialization, control and management; and identify, specify, and develop a prototype radio interface to a U.S.M.C. ground radio. Only LMSSC has the specific experience and background necessary to continue to perform this tasking without significant delay or additional cost. They are the only company that has the unique expertise and experience based on their support of the hardware and software configuration of the CBMANET under the current contract.
