Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst (NAWCADLKE) intends to procure a new more capable, towbarless Shipboard Helo Handler (SHH) with the capability of supporting the H-60 helicopter variants to complement the existing Navy A/S32A-32 (SD-2) Spotting Dolly. The SHH will be used to move H-60s in the tight confines of shipboard hangar bays and flight decks. The SHH will be a highly maneuverable low profile towbarless aircraft handling vehicle that, for towing operations, attaches to and lifts an H-60s landing gear. When attached to the H-60, it shall have the ability to rotate about the attachment with a zero turning radius to provide the maneuverability necessary to spot aircraft in a densely packed hangar bay environment. The SHH shall have the following characteristics: (a) Be able to lift a tail gear weighing up to 8,000lbs; (b) Be capable of exerting 5,000 lbs drawbar pull when loaded as described in (a) above; (c) Have a maximum length of 144 inches; (d) Have a maximum width of 81 inches (e) Have a maximum height of 10 inches in a circular area of 29 inches radius centered on the center of the lifting mechanism. Have a maximum height outside of this area of 18 inches; (f) Have a maximum speed of 3 MPH; (g) Be able to achieve a maximum speed of 2.5 MPH when loaded as described in (a) above; (h) Have sufficient ground clearance to negotiate a 1.5 inch obstruction when loaded as described in (a) above; (i) Be capable of ascending a ten degree slope with out contact of any part of the handler with the deck; (j) Be compatible with the following aircraft: HH-60H, MH-60R, MH-60S and SH-60B.
