Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. All questions and requests for clarification will be directed by e-mail to Mr. Jesse Searles e-mail address jesse.searles1@us.army.mil. The specifications are as follows: The borescope needs to have an articulating tip that will allow it to move a minimum of 130 degrees in order to serve as the sole tool to be used on every type of airframe the Army operates. This tip needs to be submersible in order to inspect pieces such as fuel cells, since we operate at a remote location. The ability to inspect the interior of fuel cells without de-fueling is paramount since we have no access to de-fueling assets and the possibility of corrosion is higher because we rely on the civilia n contractor to add PRIST to the fuel, which prevents corrosion in ballistic resistant fuel cells. The borescope needs to have the ability to video record so maintainers can prove to engineers that they are conducting borescope procedures correctly should an unexpected grounding condition occur. The video capability will prevent unnecessary down time w hile maintainers explain their NDI methods by providing video proof of their procedures. The borescope also needs to have the ability to print pictures to send to engineering departments for analysis. The borescope needs to be durable and weatherproof as some of the procedures will need to take place outside on transient aircraft. The ability to utilize the borescope outside is crucial in our ability to continue missions. All questions and clarifications will need to be delivered via e-mail to Mr. Jesse Searles at jesse.searles1@us.army.mil by 1400 MST 20 November 2007. This combined synopsis/solicitation closes 1400 MST 23 November 2007.
