- Description
- The Naval Sea Systems Command has a requirement for the FY09-FY13 advance planning efforts in support of the Inactivation of USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65). The inactivation of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier is a complex availability necessitating extensive advance planning. This advance planning includes, but is not limited to, engineering plans, material procurement, and readying facilities for the inactivation. This requirement encompasses all advance planning, design, documentation, engineering, procurement, shipchecks, fabrication, and/or the work necessary to prepare and make ready for the inactivation work on CVN 65. This requirement will be solicited from Northrop Grumman Newport News, 4101 Washington Ave, Newport News, VA 23607. This requirement will be procured, without full and open competition, from the only qualified source capable of performing the inactivation on a large deck nuclear aircraft carrier. The CVN 65 Inactivation accomplishment will include requirements for defueling the reactors, as well as nuclear and non-nuclear inactivation work and preparation for towing. The inactivation accomplishment effort will be announced and solicited at a later date. Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact Northrop Grumman Newport News directly.
