- SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE & REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. No solicitation is available. This RFI is released pursuant to FAR Part 15.201(e), Exchanges with Industry. The Acquisition Services Directorate, National Business Center ("NBC"), Office of the Secretary, US Department of the Interior, issues this RFI regarding Internal Express Mail Tracking Systems. Background: NBC's Mail Services is considering the acquisition of a mail and package barcode and signature tracking system to improve the timeliness and accuracy of delivery of incoming express mail and packages to various DOI locations. Requirements: An envisioned system would be able to meet the following requirements: 1) signature confirmation via computer or signature pad; 2) customizable screens to add/edit/delete fields as needed; 3) downloadable reports; 4) ability to alert employees via email of items received for them; 5) customizable forms; 6) import of files; 7) hand-held barcode reader to scan items received; 8) internet-based tracking and searching; Any system proposed cannot utilize any intranet or DOI internal networking due to IT Security requirements. The system must be directly accessible via internet explorer and the system application must be in Microsoft.net or another comparable web-based language. All security and maintenance will be provided via remote support. Technical support, service and training would be available on-line. The contractor would back-up in real time all transaction data throughout the day. Redundant servers are required and at no additional expense to the Department. The contractor would setup all workstations, including software/hardware installation. Equipment would be located at the Main Interior Building in Washington, DC and two Northern Virginia locations. Any package tracking system must be Section 508, Americans with Disabilities Act, compliant. Hardware envisioned is workstations/barcode tracking system, signature pads, scanners, cradles/rechargers, thermal label printer. Software: as provided/required. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI, including any subsequent requests for proposal (RFP). Only responders who already have the described capabilities are desired. All responses (one per company, please) are to be provided to the Contracting Officer on company letterhead and are limited to ten pages.
