Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Central Region, Geographic Information Office has a requirement for operation of the mobile mini shaker by the University of Texas, Austin for USGS projects in the central, western, and northwestern US. As part of the research component of USGS earthquake studies in the US, with plans to collect seismic reflection data that will image geologic structures in earthquake-prone areas of major urban centers of the US. Such studies will address both scientific questions of long-term deformation processes and provide needed inputs for earthquake hazard assessment products. In order to conduct these experiments in an efficient and cost-effective manner, the USGS requires the expertise of staff and use of equipment belonging to the NEES equipment facility at the Geotechnical Center at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA). In particular, the experiments require the use of their mini shaker truck, and the associated equipment and personnel required to operate it. Their equipment is unique and the experiment cannot be conducted without it. The experiments will be conducted in three areas of the US at to-be-determined locations within the New Madrid seismic zone in Arkansas, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Seattle, Washington. All submissions will be evaluated to determine if competitive opportunities exist, if no submissions are received by the above appointed time, the Government will proceed with noncompetitive award without further notice. This is NOT a Request for Quote (RFQ); the Government does not anticipate issuing a written solicitation. This notice and any resulting contract or order conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-04, effective 08 June 2005. No number notes apply. Any questions please contact Betty Hewitt, at email blhewitt@usgs.gov
