Description

The Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled (Committee), the Federal agency that oversees the Ability One (formerly the Javits-Wagner?O?Day (JWOD)) Program, is seeking a U.S. commercial manufacturer of hearing protection, to partner with a selected nonprofit agency to furnish such products to the Federal Government under the JWOD Program. The product described must be 1) A two ended ear plug configuration which includes a small filter that is inserted into the center stem of the earplug. 2) The two sided, non-linear earplug, mitigates the hazard from weapons fire over a desired intensity range while at the same time marginally interferers with required verbal communication and detection of combat sounds. 3) The earplug has to be made of polyurethane and shall be in accordance with medical procurement item description No. 2 dated 16 July 2006. 4) In addition to the item listed above, it is anticipated that the selected manufacturer offers a complete line of hearing protection products specific to the military and tactical operations.
