Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to award a single-source contract to DME Corporation to continue manufacturing and delivering 15 Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (MALSR) Type # FA-17900. This will allow the FAA to maintain continuity, consistency and uninterrupted delivery of MALSR's until a replacement contract is awarded. Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System (FAAAMS) paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to extend the current contract with a selected source. The FAA issued a request for qualifications on October 17, 2007 seeking information on potential Small Disadvantaged 8(a) or Service-disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses capable of purchasing, integrating and testing various MALSR system components in advance of their installation in the field. Because the FAA has not completed the review of those companies responding to that announcement, and there exist an immediate need for 15 MALSR systems over the next 6 to 8 months, the FAA intends to award a single source contract to the DME Corporation to fulfill this need. DME is currently the manufacture of the FA-17900 Type MALSR's being purchased by the FAA. A competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement. If your firm believes it can fulfill the FAA requirements, current specifications and the systems are currently approved by the FAA for use in the NAS, please provide evidence of your firm's capability and experience in providing the equipment outlined above and the FAA will evaluate that information accordingly. All responses to this announcement must be directed to William Keller, Contracting Officer by 12:00 A.M., Eastern Time, January 7, 2008, 800 Independence Ave, Washington DC 20591, or e-mail to William.k.keller-jr@faa.gov.
