- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Coordinating Center for Infectious Diseases (CCID), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Influenza Division (ID) intends to add new work to an existing contract for the performance of laboratory analytical design evaluation of influenza point-of-care diagnostics in advanced development. The new work is for a contractor to create, test, validate, and document a laboratory-created surrogate sample that was originally contemplated to be government furnished material (GFM). In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-2, the Government has determined that due to the unusual and compelling urgency with which the surrogate sample is required for the successful performance of major deliverables of the existing contract as well as other interdependent HHS/CDC contract supporting the National Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Program, Midwest Research Institute is the only responsible source who can satisfy this requirement without unacceptable delay and substantive duplication of costs. Subject to the availability of funds, the Government intends to modify the existing contract by mid-February 2008. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and provide written notification to the Contracting Officer within fifteen (15) days from the date of this synopsis. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
