Description
NASA/ARC is hereby soliciting information about potential sources for replacing Steam Vacuum System (SVS) Cooling Towers at the ArcJet Facility, Building N234A. Contractor to provide all labor, equipment, and material to demolish and replace the existing Steam Vacuum System (SVS) cooling towers (CT-1 & CT-2) including several associated cooling water pumps in the Ames Arc Jet Complex. Base Bid: The work consists of demolishing two (2) existing 45 year old wooden structure cooling towers (CT-1: two (2) cells at 24?x30?x40? per cell; CT-2: three (3) cells at 30?x30?x40? per cell) and install new cooling towers (CT-1: approx. 5,000 GPM & CT-2: approx. 8,000 GPM) over the existing concrete basin with same foot prints. The new cooling towers shall be suitable for industrial application. The new cooling tower consists of new risers, new pipe headers, and modification to the existing piping. The existing cooling towers contain asbestos and hazardous materials. Contractor shall provide design, install, and test the new cooling towers and the towers must have FM approved or have a complete fire protection system per NFPA 214. Bid Options: There are six (6) bid option items to demolish the existing water pumps and replace with new pumps, ranging from 100 hp. to 250 hp. Pump replacement work consists of demolition of the existing pump and foundation, installation of new pump and foundation, modification to the existing piping to accommodate the new pump, and power connection to the pumps. All fabrication and installation of pressure components shall be performed in accordance with ASME B31.3. All work in this solicitation entails strict compliance with safety and environmental considerations. A preliminary work plan defining methods and procedures will be required as part of the contract proposal. A detailed work/safety plan addressing all methods of demolition and construction shall be submitted and approved by the Government prior to the start of the demolition work. On-site construction work (demolition, installation, and testing) shall be performed and shall be completed in shortest possible site construction duration to minimize the shutdown of Arc Jet facility. The Contractor and subcontractors shall mobilize and ready, and have all the materials at the job site prior to the start of the site construction. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offeror?s responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. The Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a) set-aside based on responses hereto.
