This serves as a sources sought notice and market survey to locate qualified businesses capable of providing single in-plant test that is capable of detecting sulfonamides and antibiotics at the tolerance level in porcine and bovine kidney for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The current in-plant test was developed by FSIS and is called the Fast Antimicrobial Screen Test (FAST). FAST is capable of detecting beta lactams (both penicillins and cephalosporins), aminoglycosides, macrolides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones and sulfas. The business concern will need to generate or submit data on a range of drugs from each compound class listed above. A complete description of the procedure, along with estimated times required per analysis, should also be submitted. FSIS estimates 125,000 test analyses annually, but the agency cannot identify an approximate number until the testing method is implemented.
