- The U.S. Coast Guard is setting aside this acquisition for Small Business concerns. The NAICS Code is 336611 and the small business standard is less than 1,000 employees. This acquisition will be issued as an Invitation for Bids (IFB),on or about February 11, 2008 via the Federal Business Opportunities (FEDBIZOPPS) web page at www.eps.gov with bids due on or about March 12, 2008. The government reserves the right to cancel this solicitation, either before or after the bid opening or closing date. Hard copies of the specification and solicitation will not be issued. A CD-ROM containing all applicable drawings is available free of charge to contractors upon request not later than three (3) days from the bid opening. The CD-ROM(s) contain WINDOWS compliant raster/vector formats (e.g.*.DWF, etc). The acquisition is for drydock repairs to the USCGC TEMPEST (WPC-2), a 179 foot patrol coastal boat, at the contractors facility. The cutters homeport is Pascagoula, MS. The vessel availability is for approximately sixty (60) calendar days, starting on or about May 12, 2008. The scope of this acquisition is for repairs of various items aboard the USCGC TEMPEST (WPC-2). The work will include, but is not limited to welding repairs, ultra thickness (UT) shot inspection, clean and inspect fuel and waste oil tanks, clean sewage and grey water collection and holding tanks, remove, inspect, and reinstall propeller shafts, renew shaft bearings, remove, inspect, and reinstall propellers, clean and inspect heat exchangers, overhaul and renew valves, remove, inspect, and reinstall rudder assemblies, overhaul stabilizing fins, overhaul and preserve anchor and anchor chain, combatant craft retrieval system maintenance, clean sewage and grey water piping systems, preserve chain locker and anchor windlass room, preserve various bilges, preserve and disinfect potable water tanks, preserve ballast tanks and voids, preserve weather decks, preserve boat wells and stern door interior surfaces, preserve underwater body, inspect and maintain cathodic protection system, routine drydocking, provide temporary logistics, inspect pilot house deck and sub-structure, replace switchboard bus mounting modules, overhaul shipboard ventilation motors, overhaul reverse osmosis distilling plant, overhaul mechanical hatches, renew deck covering systems, install mechanical shaft seal assemblies , repair propeller root erosion, preserve fuel and oil tanks, preserve sewage collection and holding tank, and preserve freeboard. All welding and brazing shall be accomplished by trained welders who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualifications procedures.
