Description
GOVERNMENT SOURCES SOUGHT / REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) is seeking sources that may have technologies or systems on-the-shelf that may be integrated into the Landing Craft Air Cushion Vehicle (LCAC). Currently, the U.S. Navy is seeking Cargo/Vehicle Weighing and Balance Indicator Systems that may be integrated into LCAC Craft/Operations. The LCAC is a hover-craft that essentially flies just above the water and land on a cushion of air. The LCAC carries varying assortments of cargo in and out of Well-Deck Ships, over the seas, across the beach and to inland destinations ashore. The LCAC has forward and aft pivoting cargo loading ramps leading up to a cargo deck containing integrated tie-down points. Cargo is moved up these ramps and then placed at positions on deck where they are secured. Cargo, weighing up to of 75 Tons, can be in the form of palletized boxes, containers, both rolling and tracked vehicles that are driven up the cargo ramps, and items loaded in by overhead crane or a prime mover. It is desirable to integrate into the LCAC Ramps and or Cargo Deck/Hull a system or systems that will rapidly weigh items as they are loaded onto LCAC. Ideally, such a system would Keep track of Cargo Weight and Craft Balance as items are brought onboard. Such a system having a wireless reporting means would also be desirable. Any technologies or systems being integrated into LCAC would have to be safe and reliable and be able to survive in a harsh maritime environment, prolonged exposure to salt spray, sea water immersion, exposure to sand, grease, solvents, shock, vibration, and temperature extremes from -30F to 140F. Descriptive information is sought in the form of brochures, specification sheets, and company points of contact. Design proposals requiring developmental funding are not of interest at this time. This source sought announcement may not directly lead to a request for proposals. Interested parties should respond to thi s Sources Sought Announcement by 15 April 2008. Interested parties ma y send notification of candidate technologies and systems (hard copy only) to: Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division Mr. Robert Woodall, Code E34 110 Vernon Ave. Panama City, FL 32407-7001 Any technical questions regarding this subject may be directed to Mr. Robert Woodall, Code E34 at 850-235-5027 or robert.woodall@navy.mil. This is not a solicitation. In the event a solicitation is developed, it will be assigned a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) number and the announcement will be published in the Navy Electronic Commerce Online (NECO) and Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps).
