Description
This project will engage an Architect-Engineering firm to provide Contract Drawings, Specifications, Construction Cost Estimate, Engineering Calculations and subsequent Construction Period Services for the above referenced project, specifically to involve: 1. Installation of a dehumidification system for the HVAC system dedicated for the 4th Floor surgical area in Building 28. Installation of this system is to ensure that the facility can meet and maintain the minimum VA Operating Room temperature standard of 62 degrees and humidity range of 45-55% relative humidity during typical outside summer weather conditions in all four operating rooms during normal operating procedures. The main components will be mounted on the roof of Building 28 above the surgical area. Work will include all demolition, structural, plumbing, ductwork, controls and electrical necessary for complete installation. 2. The design will meet all VA HVAC design criteria for surgical areas. Due to the VA mandates for 100% outside air for surgical HVAC systems, the design may have to exceed the accepted ASHRAE criteria for both wet and dry bulb temperatures for the Amarillo area and consider design values used by HVAC firms familiar with conditions in the Texas Panhandle in order to ensure that the design meets VA standards for temperature and humidity values. 3. The design will also include modifications to the standard VA Test and Balance specification to include that testing of temperature and humidity values, in addition to airflow, is required before final acceptance of the project. The final Test and Balance specification will ensure the VA OR design criteria for temperature and humidity is met before the project is considered complete. 4. The A/E shall provide a detailed construction cost estimate based on the contract drawings and specifications. All designs are to be to VA design criteria. The A/E firm must have an active production office within a 400 mile radius of Amarillo, Texas, and must be a 100% small business. Submission of SF 330's are due NLT February 28, 2008. Estimated construction cost is $250,000 - $500,000. NOTE: SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
