- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Mid-Infrared Single mode Semiconductor laser for Trace Gas detection. The requirement has the following specifications: A.Delivery of Uncoated facet gain chips (Minimum Quantity 5) ? Maxion shall provide gain chips with gain peak in the 3.2 to 3.4 ?m regime. The gain chip shall meet the wavelength specification while operating above 120 K. The gain chip shall be mounted on a mechanical mount that provides ample clearance to either side of the gain chip for the placement of collimating lenses. Maxion shall provide mechanical details of the mount selected to GSFC prior to mounting the chips. The gain chip shall be able to operate either at continuous wave mode or pulsed mode. Time: 12 weeks (3 mos) ARO. B.Delivery of antireflection (AR) coated facet gain chips (Minimum Quantity 5) ? Maxion shall provide AR coated gain chips with gain peak in the 3.2 to 3.4 ?m regime. The gain chip shall meet the wavelength specification while operating above 120 K. The gain chip shall be mounted on similar mounts as selected in item (A). The gain chip shall be able to operate either at continuous wave mode or pulsed mode. Time: 20 weeks (5 mos) ARO. C.Delivery of single frequency lasers (Minimum Quantity 5) ? Maxion shall provide single frequency laser devices with lasing wavelength at TBD nm. The laser devices shall meet the wavelength specification while operating above 120 K (wavelength spec must be decided upon within 4 weeks ARO). The lasers shall be mounted on similar mounts as selected in item (A). The lasers chip shall be able to operate either at continuous wave mode or pulsed mode. All five lasers will operate at the same wavelength. Time: 32 weeks (8 mos) ARO. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Maxion Technologies Inc. Authorithy is FAR 13.106-1 (b) (1) Only one source reasonably available. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisitions Procedures (SAP). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. DO Rating is DO-C9. This synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 PM EST on February 21, 2008.
