Description
The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract to Midvale Environmental Technologies for ADM GPX Type VII Starch-g Acrylic Blast Media. The GPX, MIL-P-8589, Type VII is a hybrid blasting media which combines acrylic plastic with corn starch. Current Type V plastic media is used on other aircraft to strip paint, but is too aggressive for the T6-A aircraft. GPX Type VII Starch-g Acrylic Blast Media is softer and less aggressive than plastic (Type V) media currently in use for other aircraft. Interested parties capable of providing the above must submit a written quote to include discount terms, tax identification number, cage code, and DUNS. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any quotes received by the quote due date will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Justification for other than Full and Open Competition: The T-6A has not been painted since 1998 due to the aggressiveness of current media (Type V) used to strip other aircraft. The Air Force Research Laboratory and the Air Force Corrosion and Prevention Office evaluated GPX media and approved it to remove paint from the T-6A substrate. GPX, MIL-P-8589, Type VII is a hybrid blasting media that combines acrylic plastic with corn starch. The Midvale Environmental Technologies Company is the only North American Dealer for this product NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (01-FEB-2008). IT ACTUALLY APPEARED OR REAPPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 05-FEB-2008, BUT REAPPEARED IN THE FTP FEED FOR THIS POSTING DATE. PLEASE CONTACT fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
