- Description
- This is a combined/solicitation Request for Quote for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number for this acquisition is RFQ6059 and the solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quote. This solicitation document and its incorporated provisions are those in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC 2005-11). This acquisition will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and is a Small Business Set-Aside. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) intend to procure Professional services and the purpose of this requirement is to recruit a Microbiology Technician to perform technical support for NIH. The contractor will develop and perform a variety of assays with applications for infectious disease, and test in-house patient samples or samples obtained through collaborations with outside investigators. The contractor will provide support for HIV/AIDS research program at NIH. The contractor will set up and routinely perform molecular tests for Pneumocystis pneumonia, tuberculosis, CMV, and EBV infection. The contractor will perform PCR and NDA samples from blood, lymph node biopsies, muscle biopsies, and other tissues as needed. The contractor will screen oral wash, sputum, or bronchoalveolar lavage samples and develop assay to quantitative mitochondrial DNA in clinical samples. The contractor will be work directly with two NIH doctors and will provide a time sheet biweekly for approval/signature and submit for payment. The period of performance will be 3/7/08-3/6/09. The contractor will have experience with PCR-based clinical microbiology assays and in working in clinical laboratories; handling infectious clinical specimens. The contractor will provide 2080 hours (i.e. equivalent to one full-time working year, at 40 hours per week. The North American Industry Classification System (NIACS) Code for this acquisition is 541711, and the small-business size standard is 500. This is a firm fixed-price contract and the FOB terms are ?Destination? and Net 30.
