- Description
- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), on behalf of the Program Executive Office ??? Space Systems (PEO-SS) and Communication Satellite Program Office (PMW 146), intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for preliminary work on a Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Satellite Communication (SATCOM) payload. SPAWAR may award up to three contracts to for preliminary work of a UHF SATCOM payload intended for flight on a commercial satellite system. The award(s) will be made through full and open competition and will be Firm Fixed Price (FFP). Award is planned for August 2008, with a period of performance of approximately six months. SPAWAR plans to initiate this procurement with a release RFP in 3rd GFY08 followed by contract award early 4th Quarter GFY08. Subsequent contract awards may be made to complete the hosted payload effort and to lease UHF SATCOM services, with a target service starting in mid-to-late FY11. The pre-solicitation notice provided is for information only and is not a Request for Proposal. This synopsis does not constitute an invitation for bid or Request for Proposal, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a contract or order. The Government will not pay for any effort expended or any material provided in response to this announcement nor will the government return any data provided. Interested parties may submit comments/questions in writing to the Contract Specialist, Maureen Zajano, SPAWAR Headquarters, at e-mail address maureen.zajano@navy.mil. An Industry day will be held on 11 March 2008 at Booz Allen Hamilton, San Diego, California. Information will be posted at SPAWAR E-Commerce Central website (https://e-commerce.spawar.navy.mil).
