- Description
- Selectively control non-native weeds distributed throughout the 3,023 acres of Diegan coastal sage scrub within the Harris Fire footprint within SDNWR (Figure 1). Weeds will be controlled by spraying a glyphosate-based herbicide (approved by the Service) in up to four separate applications between contract issuance and July 31, 2008. The separate herbicide applications will be scheduled approximately 1-3 weeks after seasonal rain events. Effectiveness of treatment will be monitored by the field crew supervisor or other qualified crew member by revisiting the treatment area at an appropriate interval (approximately 2 weeks) and examining for re-sprouts and/or new sprouts throughout the growing season. Photo points, and pre and post treatment survival checks of infested areas will be conducted to determine treatment effectiveness. A description of the distribution and quantity of weeds in burned area will be provided by the contractor and recommendations made for further treatment measures.
