Description
The VA Western New York Healthcare System has requirement for sharps removal and disposal at its Buffalo and Batavia facilities. Requirements include the following: (1) Top feed, direct drop reusable sharps containers will only be used for this program; (2) Reusable sharps containers must be installed, collected, emptied, disinfected and reinstalled by the contractor (3) Contractor is required to adjust the program to meet the unique and changing needs of each clinical area; (4) Must comply with all applicable CDC, NIOSH, OSHA, CAP, EPA, and JCAHO regulations; (5) All containers must be emptied by the contractor before ?? full and before thirty days of the last date emptied. The contractor will adjust container size accordingly to ensure that container removal meets this requirement. Additional container removal by EMS or other VA staff, if needed, will be compensated by the contractor; (6) Contractor must supply the VA will applicable training records for its staff as well as a list of mandatory training requirements upon request; (7) Contractor must require its staff to participate in all applicable VA training required by the COTR, as it pertains to this work.; (8) Contractor must provide proof of its employee current Hepatitis B vaccination or declination statement (as required by OSHA) and TB Skin Test records; (9) Contractor employees must undergo a low-level background investigation, to be initiated by the VA; (10) Reusable sharps containers must be properly disinfected and sample tested to show that a 6 log reduction of vegetative organisms and a 3 log reduction of mycobacterium are met. These analytical results must be provided to VA upon request. Contractor must provide VA with written procedures regarding its disinfection process and allow VA staff to directly observe this process upon request; (11) Contractor must provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) on any chemicals it uses in the facility; (12) Contractor may NOT subcontract the possession, transport, or disposal of Medical Waste from these facilities. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. All interested firms should send a company profile to the Contracting Officer, including a description of their technical capabilities and any relevant past performance information. All submission must be received by 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
