Description
General Information Document Type: Request for Information Solicitation Number: M67854-08-R-5034 Posted Date: 27 Feb 2008 Archive Date: 30 Apr 2008 Original Response Date: 31 Mar 2008 Current Response Date: Classification Code: 61 ? Electric Wire, Power and Distribution Equipment Contracting Office Address Department of the Navy, United States Marine Corps, Marine Corps Systems Command, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA, 22134-5060 Description The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Virginia seeks sources and information for a new family of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for use with multiple tactical and combat vehicle platforms. Previous efforts to develop APUs have been system specific and as such have not found widespread use. As power requirements for vehicles continue to increase, a source of readily available, highly reliable, rugged APUs must be identified. The goal of this program is to identify APUs in two size ranges: 3.5-5kW and 10-15kW at 28 VDC. The APUs must be capable of sustained operation in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees F to +125 degrees F. All APUs must operate on tactical fuels (diesel, JP-8), and can not be driven by the vehicle?s primary engine. APU may utilize the vehicles fuel tank and batteries. Commercial firms possessing the characteristics noted in any of the above systems are encouraged and invited to submit product brochures and pricing materials outlining specifications, to include a statement of capabilities. Responses will be reviewed to identify firms potentially capable of fulfilling the Governments requirements. This Request for Information (RFI) is for planning purposes in preparation for a Request for Proposal to be released in the Spring of 2008. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If so included, clearly mark such restricted or proprietary data and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. Responses to this RFI shall be mailed to Marine Corps Systems Command, Attn: Moxi Mi-GTES, 2200 Lester Ave, Quantico, VA 22134-6050 no later than 31 Mar, 2008. FEDEX or UPS deliveries should be sent to MARCORSYSCOM Material Management, Attn: Moxi Mi-GTES, 2201A Willis St, Quantico, VA 22134-6050.
