SOLICITATION NUMBER: W67K2S-8061-0500 QUOTE DUE DATE: 26 March 2008 POC: Linda Duvall, Contra cting Officer, (801)523-4091 DESCRIPTION: This a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constit utes the only solicitation, quotes are hereby requested. A written solicitation will not be issued. This requirement will be 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code will be 611620, size standard is $6 .5M. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Step Aerobics Instructor every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Instructor must understand the definition and benefits of step training, demonstrate and describe proper body alignment and techni ques on the step, describe correct posture during step training, understand the principles of step training to music, demonstrate proper warm-up techniques, describe and demonstrate proper breathing, identify various directional approaches to the bench, de fine base steps, describe variations that can be used with base steps, demonstrate various arm movements and intensities, apply the techniques mentioned above to the design of step training routines, and create step training pattern variations. 2. Pil ates Instructor every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.: Instructor should be able to perform and instruct students on the series of controlled movements performed on the floor (mat work). The two of the key elements the instructor must be able to perform and instruct are core muscle strength and spinal alignment. The core musculature is loosely defined as the spine, abdomen, pelvis, hips, and the muscles that support these structures. Some of the main core muscles are the erector spinae (located i n your back along your spine), the internal and external obliques (the sides of your abdomen), the transverse abdominis (located deep in your gut, this muscle pulls your belly button in toward your spine), and hip flexors (in your pelvis and upper leg).<BR >During the Pilates session, the instructor will continuously prompt the student to concentrate deeply on their core muscles, as well as on their breathing, the contraction of their muscles, and the quality (not quantity) of their movements. Instructor s should be able to: accurately assess a client's posture and movement patterns, understand what the client is doing in a session, have the ability to build an appropriate, client-specific program, and pace the workout for an effective movement experience. Potential instructor must provide how long their training was and how much practical experience they have with Pilates and must have a National Association for Fitness Certification (NAFC) recognized by the National Board of Fitness Examiners. 3. I f the instructor is not able to teach the session it will be their responsibility to find a replacement or schedule a make-up session. 4. Instructor must accommodate both beginner and advanced students. 5. Instructor must be able to teach both cla sses (Step Aerobics and Pilates). EVALUATION FACTORS: The contract type for this procurement will be Firm-Fixed price and award will be made on the basis of best value to the Government, price and other factors considered. Selection will be based on the following eval uation factors in order of importance: (1) past performance, experience within the past year teaching Step Aerobics and Pilates; (2) certifications; and (2) total cost and/or price. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In accordance with FAR 52.212 -1(k), prospective awardee shall be registered and active in the CCR database prior to award. If the offeror does not become registered in the CCR database by the due date/time of quote, the Contracting Officer will proceed to award to the next otherwise s uccessful registered offeror. The base period will be fro m 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009. Each option will be exercised contingent upon the contractor providing service that is satisfactory to the Medical Readiness Office and based on the availability of funds.
