Description
The US Army Corps of Engineers, New York District is scheduled to hold a workshop on April 7, 2008 at 8:30 AM. The meeting will be held at Four Points Sheraton, 901 Spring St, Elizabeth, NJ, 07201. It is the goal of the New York District (NYD), US Army Corps of Engineers, to help ensure that the Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) community reaches its potential as a thriving segment of the American economy. To further this goal, the NYD is hosting a SDVOSB Outreach Initiative Wo rkshop to encourage SDVOSB firms to do business with the Corps. Last fiscal year, the NYD purchased supplies, materials, and services such as military construction at Fort Drum, NY and the US Military Academy, West Point, NY; McGuire Air Force Base and P icatinny Arsenal, NJ; dredging in NY and NJ, beach nourishment, environmental restoration and mitigation, architect-engineer services, janitorial services, recruiting station upgrades such as maintenance and repair, painting, installation of carpeting, a nd environmental testing throughout NY and NJ. This initiative workshop will provide information on how the Corps does business from cradle to grave, including basic contracting principles applicable to doing business with the federal government. We will discuss the steps necessary to become an eligible SDVOSB. The workshop will also provide an opportunity for SDVOSBs to market their capabilities to businesses doing business with the Corps. Information on NYDs military and civil works Buffalo District s civil works programs will be presented. All SDVOSBs are invited as are companies who are not yet officially registered as SDVOSBs but which are interested in doing business with the Corps. Representatives from NYD will be available at breakout sessions to discuss special requirements for A/E procurements as well as to discuss our construction and real estate upgrade programs. Representatives from the VA and SBA are scheduled to be available to provide additional information concerning the SDVOSB progra m. There is no fee to attend, however registration is required for each member of your firm attending. Large businesses and small business concerns, including HUBZones and SDBs, seeking SDVOSB subcontractors are encouraged to attend and should note their business status on their registration form. Government officials will be available to assist firms in registering in CCR, the first step towards doing business with the government. Your Tax Identification Number (TIN) and Taxpaye r name used in Federal tax matters; visit http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=97860,00.html; 3. Statistical information about your business to include the average number of employees for this location, average annual receipts for this loca tion, affiliation information to include the average number of employees and average annual receipts of all affiliates, and for organizations the sell or generate electricity, refine petroleum, or that are financial institutions, the total megawatt hours f or the preceding year or if a financial institution, the average assets as reported on the fourth quarterly financial statements for the preceding year; and 4. Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Information for payment of invoices to include your ABA Routin g Number for your bank, Account Number and Type, or Lockbox Number, Automated Clearing House (ACH) point of contact, remittance point of contact and accounts receivable point of contact. The location of this workshop is the Fours Seasons Sheraton, 901 Spr ing St, Elizabeth, NJ 13601. Registration will start at 8:30, with the sessions commencing at 9:00.
